Michael Finds 'Forever' Family
Michael used to be one of the hundreds of teens in state custody who need parents and a home.
The challenge in finding adoptive parents for older children, and the large numbers of these kids who wait and wait, are national tragedies.
Volunteers of America, working with a program called Wendy’s Wonderful Kids, a signature program of the Dave Thomas Foundation For Adoption, has taken on this challenge.
It took more than a year to find a family for Michael. Our staff finally found a single man eager to foster Michael. Michael thrived with his foster dad—his grades improved, and he began enjoying new activities like fishing.
