Mental Health Services
Mental Health provides community coordination services to adults and children with a diagnosis of mental illness or emotional disturbance.
Components include Case Management, Supportive Housing, Outreach and Supportive Services. We serve Jefferson, Orleans, Plaquemines, St. Bernard, St. Tammany, Livingston, St. Helena, Tangipahoa and Washington Parishes.
Philosophy
We focus on each person’s strengths, interests and abilities rather than their disabilities. The consumer is the director of the process. We concentrate on building a strong relationship between consumer and case manager.
A major goal is ensuring that consumers receive the full array of needed, appropriate services available and enabling them to function optimally.
We provide Community Coordination to help with housing, basic needs, entitlements, family functioning, education, special education, transportation, employment, money management, medical/dental, mental health, comprehensive assessment and services planning.
Supportive Housing services are provided to homeless adults who meet certain criteria. Through the Outreach Program, case managers make direct contact with persons who are homeless and mentally ill, linking them to resources.
To respond to the needs of our populations, Mental Health offers individual, group and family counseling, with fees on a sliding scale. Counseling is available in New Orleans, Metairie and on the NorthShore.
How You Can Help
Persons with mental illness can be active, involved members of the community — with help and support. Volunteer to befriend a person with mental illness and share your interests, skills or simply your time. Financial gifts also are appreciated. Call
