Willie: A Lesson In Optimism, Determination
In the past, persons with disabilities lived mostly behind the walls of institutions. The walls hid their abilities along with their disabilities. They also kept society from benefiting from the contributions of the persons within.
Now, with the help of Volunteers of America's Supported Living Services, those barriers do not exist for many. The philosophy: persons with disabilities don't have to be dependent.
By providing appropriate support, Supported Living helps people with disabilities live in their own homes, pay their bills and enjoy recreational activities. Persons with disabilities can live ordinary lives that are extraordinary for them.
How Supported Living Works
