Many able-bodied persons with
adequate resources find recovery from the hurricane a challenge.  It has been even more difficult for persons in need.
Katrina Aid Today (KAT) helps by providing case management services for long-term recovery to survivors.  Those helped include a disabled women trapped in floodwaters and a family who needed legal help to establish homeownership to qualify for aid. KAT is one of our hurricane recovery initiatives.
  
In south Louisiana, the horror stories from the hurricane remain overwhelming. Take the case of a Slidell woman with disabilities who rode out the hurricane alone in a trailer and was rescued from floodwaters.
