Veterans Graduate from Finance Course
In partnership with Capital One Bank and Operation HOPE, the Volunteers of America Veterans Re-Entry Program graduation was held June 20, 2012. 11 men from the Veterans facility graduated from the program. This was a 6 week course on financial management in which the Veterans learned various important financial skills. This is a vital life skill for veterans to learn as many of them were homeless before they came to the Veterans Transitional Housing Facility. As they gain permanent employment and prepare to move out on their own, it is helpful to understand responsible financial management. Each participant opened a bank account at the beginning of the course and strove to save $500 during the next 6 weeks. Those who met this goal were rewarded with a financial match by Capital One Bank. Thank you to Capital One and Operation HOPE for providing this valuable training to the Veterans.
