Progress at 1770 Tchoupitoulas
Progress at 1770 Tchoupitoulas
The Grand Opening celebration of the Fresh Food Factor kitchen and Centennial Place apartment complex on the 1700 block of Tchoupitoulas will occur this summer. With this new space, Volunteers of America Greater New Orleans will be able to provide fresh and healthy meal options to children in the Orleans Parish school district. A job training course for Veterans transitioning out of homelessness is slated to begin next year which will educate participants on standard safety and preparation skills in the food industry. In addition, Centennial Place apartments, formerly the Lykes Steamship factory has been transformed in to 52 affordable one and two bedroom apartments. Units will begin leasing in July 2013.
