Volunteers of America of Greater New Orleans serves persons in need in 16 parishes in southeastern Louisiana.

We serve Orleans, Jefferson, St. Bernard, Plaquemines, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa, Washington, Terrebonne, LaFourche, St. Charles, St. John the Baptist, St. James, St. Mary, Assumption, Livingston and St. Helena Parishes.

Since the hurricane, we have been intensely focused on community recovery.  Most of our programs are active, and we're presenting new initiatives in response to the storm.   We have rebuilt many of our storm-damaged facilities.

We “touch lives, build community” through a variety of programs focusing on children, family, the elderly and persons with disabilities.  Our organization is a locally managed, locally governed affiliate of Volunteers of America, one of the nation's oldest, largest and most comprehensive human service charities.

We were working on the streets of New Orleans soon after our national organization was founded in 1896.  The first mission then was helping women and children in poverty.  Always extending a hand up, Volunteers of America has evolved over the decades to meet our area’s deepest human needs.
