Dear Friends,
Volunteers of America continues to thrive and energize the recovery of south Louisiana.
Since the hurricane devastated our region and our organization, Volunteers of America has been busy building affordable housing, starting new programs, reinvigorating existing programs and meeting emerging human needs. We feel privileged to be strong enough to serve.
Our community is still in great need of positive outcomes--practically and emotionally. With so many post-Katrina needs, it’s more important than ever for human services to be effective. At Volunteers of America, our only standard of success is how well our efforts improve the lives of fellow citizens in need.
We are proud to have earned the highest Four Star rating from Charity Navigator, a leading independent evaluator of nonprofits. At Volunteers of America, 88 cents of every dollar goes to community services for those in need. We work to earn accreditation for every eligible program, and we adopt the highest operational standards. This is the only way to ensure that we offer genuine help to others and that our resources are used effectively.
Volunteers of America has inspiring plans for continuing our recovery work. I invite you to join us. Volunteer your time, make a financial gift or spread the word among your family and friends. Supporting us can be as easy as donating your car or giving a few hours of time to a program that interests you.
It remains an exciting time to be working in south Louisiana. I am proud of everyone in our organization and all we do help persons in need.
Sincerely,
Jim LeBlanc
President and CEO
